A balanced team who shares ideas, skills and strengths is more likely to succeed. As the leader, your job is to build a team of individuals with the right skills, behaviours and approaches that complement each other’s strengths and support each other’s weak spots.
Teams are in a constant state of flow, and with each change to their structure comes a change in the team’s dynamics, strengths and limitations.
How it Works
LeaderX doesn’t always recruit based on what they want but what they need. Sometimes, I am brought in to coach a seemingly underperforming leader. I am given the rundown from HR as to what the problem is and then get to work. In no time at all, I can see a brilliant, talented shining star buried under the weight of disappointment, boredom and disengagement.
Your success depends on having the right people in the right place at the right time and then tapping into their skills, strengths and capabilities. You know there is untapped capability being wasted, right under your nose and you need to find it.
Top tip
Know your strengths, do the strengths finder from MySelf with your team members. Find out what they are good at, their hidden talents, their areas of expertise and then craft roles around them. It’s always best to play to people’s strengths.
