Many Human Resources function like to use ratings as they do have some benefits from a management and process approach. The key rationale for rating for success and using the rating system includes:
- Know how you are doing: By rating for success, management can measure performance more effectively against a standard framework rather than against peers/predecessors
- Talent: The use of a standard framework means that you have a more consistent approach to talent management and your rising stars.
- The how: The way you behave is just as important as what you achieve. However, rating behaviours is different to evaluating performance. Yet both need to be considered for your team to reach full success.
- Development: Through using a rating system, it helps to remind you to continuously have development conversations with your team.
