As you read through each idea, think about how you could implement it in your organisation, align with your values and integrate into your culture.
Sponsor a Fundraiser
Hold fundraisers, from school sports teams to local charities or national campaigns. Ask your employees to choose a charity, local or regional, or a corporate charity. Then create charity focus groups to partner with the charity and educate, raise awareness and organise events. It's a great feel good factor, but also creates a sense of teambuilding and belonging.
Offer Academic Scholarships
The price of higher education has been increasing at a staggering rate for decades. Even a small amount of financial help can benefit a prospective college student. Small businesses could hold a scholarship competition for exceptional high school seniors. Make connections with education organisations, either in your field or aligned to your business activities. Perhaps you are in engineering and offer engineering scholarships or have a branch in an under developed country and help students there.
Volunteer days
Offer everyone a volunteer day per year and let them choose their own cause to support. Perhaps create a team building day where you do the gardening at a local hospice, paint the homeless shelter or serve food at a soup kitchen. Contact your local volunteer service, church or other service based organisations to get ideas.
