Becoming a strategic leader

This course is about delivering your vision strategically. Leadership and strategy are inseparable so in order to create a solid strategic plan, you will have to fulfil your regular leadership responsibilities in a proactive forward-thinking way, as well as integrate a specific set of qualities and characteristics into your leadership style as you lead your team and execute on longer term objectives and plans. There aren’t many differences between normal everyday leadership and strategic leadership but they are distinctive and they lie in the way leadership principles are applied.

How it Works

As a strategic leader, you will not only be concerned about fulfilling the expectations. You will also care deeply about defining and focusing on a future agenda that implements things that really matter. By defining a long-term vision for your teamyou will be able to channel the collective effort of your team to bite the bullet, eliminate barriers and achieve better results in the future.

LeaderX will not only have the ability to express a strategic vision for the organisation, but also inspire others to embrace that vision

  • You will demonstrate the capability to influence the members of your organisation to implement the change.
  • You will create the structure, manage resources and express strategic vision.
  • You will work on demanding issues that influence and are influenced by circumstances external to their own.

To become a strategic leader, you have to encourage strategic productivity and cultivate a working environment that enables employees to understand the organisational needs.

Here are some characteristics of a strategic leader:

  • Effective communication - keeping your employees updated using different communication channels
  • Empowering employees – rather than enforcing your ideas, equip your employees with the tools to recognise the needs of the organisation and make the right decisions
  • Inspiration – when you become an inspirational figure, your employees will work with passion and determination to achieve goals
  • Self-awareness – strategic leaders have the ability to understand their emotions and their impact on others, as well as be aware of others feelings and views when making decisions
  • Effective delegation – a strategic leader can effectively delegate tasks to avoid overloading the employees and managers with responsibilities
  • Clarity and consistency – strategic leaders have the capability not only to communicate their vision, but also express their vision until it becomes a part of the organisational culture.

Finally, to articulate and deliver your vision effectively (from where your business is right now to where you want it to be), we will explore the structure below in the following lessons.
