Start at the beginning

Whether you are making personal life choices or looking towards a business goal or creating a whole new strategy, you need to know where you are now before you can map out where you are going.

WHAT IS MYPRESENT?

MyPresent is all about gaining complete clarity on your current situation and where you want to be. Clients come to me when things aren’t working. It might because their objectives aren’t being hit and they don’t want to fail, or the leader finds themselves getting involved in day-to-day issues, which is simply frustrating, or more often than not, they have fixed the immediate issues but things still aren’t working. Either way, it’s not much fun and the pressure quickly builds. Something needs to change, but they don’t know what or how to do it. So, I tell them to:

"Stop what you are doing and just pause. It’s time to take a step back and take a look at what is happening in the business or team right now with total objectivity."

It’s generally not an easy step because leaders are emotionally invested in the people, the processes and the decisions that got them here. In many cases, the leader is part of the problem and that is always a bitter pill to swallow. But for this step, detached, critical thinking is needed and most importantly, you need to leave your ego at the door.

In MyPresent, we give you the tools you need to take an accurate view of your current performance, warts and all, enabling you to set a benchmark. You’ll be asked to put your consultant hat on and take a good look around at your processes, people, behaviours and culture. You are data-gathering and mining for truth from lots of different sources and perspectives.

The answers are already in your business, you just need to ask the right questions. In any situation, with every client I meet, I simply ask them and their people, ‘What are the problems around here?’ and they give me a pretty clear understanding of what’s really going on in no time at all. They are living it every day, talking about their frustrations with each other and then taking them home with them at the end of the day.

All you have to do is ask the right questions and really listen to what you are hearing.

"JUST REMEMBER THE GOLDEN RULE: ALL RESULTS MUST BE VIEWED WITH OBJECTIVITY, CURIOSITY AND AN OPEN MIND."
